Shout out to "Frogloop"
Well, some of you might have noticed a new link in our "blogs and other buddies" area -- Frogloop. If you've not yet seen it, give it a shot.
Frogloop was put together by our buddies at Care2. They've spent most of the last several years building up one of the largest progressive communities on the planet. Really putting the "active" in "activism."
And besides, I know a slew of their folks personally, and they're a great bunch. Support them, visit Frogloop, lather, rinse repeat, and tell your 10,000 closest friends to do the same.

Bush: 'I'm the Decision-Maker' on Iraq
Yes, Mr. President, you are the decision maker. The problem is, your decisions have been 100% wrong.
What do you do when a president ignores the American people, ignores Congress, and ignores common sense? Generally, I've rolled my eyes at the idea of impeachment, but now... I wonder...

State of the Union: I got nothin
Well, I'd love to write something profound, but frankly all that can be said really has been said by about a zillion others. So really, if you want some substantive netroots response, check out the crew at www.DailyKos.com or www.MYDD.com.
For me, it was just more tiresome than anything else. Sure I'm mad about Iraq, the surge, yada, yada, yada, but mostly I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired. After six years of President Bush, I find him increasingly to be less a source of anger, and more a source of... "gees, is he STILL here?" Like one of those party guests who really has stayed way too long, won't get the hint, etc.
Sigh... is it 2009 yet?

Naked Activism? New from Peta
Well I don't quite now how I feel about this. Peta's latest stab at provocative activism actually includes... a stripper. Seriously, nudity-driven activism.
I admit, this makes even me feel a wee bit uncomfortable, but... gotta hand it to them for really, really pushing the envelope on the progressive activism front. The question is -- does it gain more progressive activists for them than it pisses off?
Check it out yourself, below (***nudity warning. Please don't check it out if you're underage, or if you're of age but susceptible to fits of "Beavis and Butthead" style laughter)

Bush at 28%
Wow, so President Bush's approval rating has finally dipped below 30%. It now stands at a truly staggering 28%. As Stoller points out on MyDD, that is officially at Nixonian levels.
For reference, here's a few other tidbits:
- 34% favor legalization of marijuana
- 36% favor the continuization of affirmative action
- 35% favor gay marriage
So, for the record, pot legalization, affirmative action, and gay marriage are now more popular than George Bush.
Finally, the nation is headed in the right direction!

"Boniva" - No it's not dirty
So the first time I saw an ad for "Boniva," I figured it must've been an SNL skit for some faux-viagra pill. But no, it's for fighting osteoporosis... or something... whatever.
But here's the thing -- they're spending zillions of dollars on TV ads starring Sally Field (and yes, we really do like her), touting the advantages of the pill vs. other competitors. The big difference -- "you only need to take it once a month, not once a week!" Now if you've not seen the ads, you'd think from Sally's tone that this was the most friggin exciting development in human history.
How lazy have we really become? How hard is it to take one pill a week? It's not an enema, for God's sake, it's swallowing a friggin pill. "Gosh it's a beautiful day and I'd love to enjoy it, but... I've gotta swallow this pill. Sigh.. it could be hours."
These are the things I obsess over...
