Merge with Canada, or Dump the Red States?

That's the question.  If we merge with Canada, we get 15 more states, each with at least 3 electoral votes, and thus... enough to swing the election in 2008 (assuming the Canadians vote more sensibly than the red states, that is).

On the other hand... there's always the option of simply kicking out the red states altogether, and going it alone.  You know, just leave them a note one night -- "sorry it's not working out.  Buh-bye.  Come back when you pull your heads out of your butts." Thoughts?

interestingly enough there have been similar thoughts batted around in the rightwing area. specifically, they suggest trading the new england area for western canada straight up

I agree. I am considering a campaign to convince a state, county, or city to peacefully secede from the union. Anyone with me?

We could also annex France,Palastine,Cuba,Russia and the other socialist countries. We could also get Osma Bin Laden to campaing for the candidate again, like he did to Kerry. We could show the red states that they are not as important as they think they are.

As one of the 31 million Canadians you are considering 'ANNEXING' I was just wondering if you would be kind enough to consider if we want to be 'ANNEXED'?
If not, Im not suprised, if so, PLEASE do something about Califonia at the very least first, EH?

Hmmm... good point. That should be "merge" with Canada (with Canadian permission, of course). Ya know, form "AmeriCanada" or "Ay-Merica" or that kind of thing.

I don't think we need to do either. Let's just take one of the red states, and exile all the right-wing nuts like Terry, Gonad, etc., there. Or give them their own country, "Idiotopia."

Who do we think we are kidding? Like it or not Canada is The States 'Little Brother' and like all siblings we quarrel (sometimes visciously) with each other at times.
Of course when some one else (not in our family) hurts or threatens one of us, you can bet the other will do what he can to help out.
"Big Brother" IS NOT always right. 'Little Brother' is not always wrong. Just ask yourselves this, WHO would you RATHER have on that 3,000 miles of BORDER?

Forget it.

Without the Blue states, America is just another Third World shithole and Bush knows it. Any Blue state that actually managed to get a workable secession together would find a column of tanks on the front lawn of the state capitol to "restore democracy", even if the tanks had to be pulled out of Iraq to do it.

Google on "Red State Welfare Queens" for details.

Hey John... Wouldn't it be easier if you just left America. Do yourself (and us) a favor and just move to Canada dude.

As interconnectedness increases, the great repository of freedom and the selling of its collective "force" will have to be sold more on the basis of cultural freedom than force. Canada, the UK, NZ, Aus, India, some in Africa need the Democrat
Party to put up the resources to form alliances that
will do more than hold sovereign debt in the form of
no bid Halliburton contracts. The GOP couldn't survive having other central banks vote for whose
countrie's bonds needed more investment because of the larger participation by many in post war construction.

Hi Fellow Democrats
Sorry to say but we really do not have a chance to win in the near future. The right wing (not conservatives) control the news media with Fox and with Rush Limbaugh and his clones in total
control of the news media. We also have to remember that the American public is not very bright and has great difficulty voting in terms of their interests. If Americans voted their pocketbooks, the Democrats would win, but that is not the case.

There isn't much we can do. Bush won cause most of his votes came from uneducated, rightwing old school conservitives who are scared of "god". What needs to be done is educate those who don't understand what they have done. The gop uses scare tatics to win they did it this election with "party patrol" strong arming people to vote for the right. How long are we as americans gonna let this happen? How much can we take till we snap? The revolution will be televised.

I am a native Californian who believes at least the 3 left coast states should secede from the union. If the other blue states want to join, let me know. If not, ok. I have a great idea to boot. All other blue staters can visit the new Pacific parliamentary republic sans a passport. red staters need passport and visa to enter and no you may not get it at the new border. Citizens of all other nations need only a passport

I advanced the idea of kicking the Redders out -- "forced secession" and "ejection" were used to describe it. In short, we Blues articulate the myriad ways in which the Reds' actions and deliberate inactions are truly counter-American -- and hence anti-American -- and that they, thus, need to be shown the door.

The U.S. Constitution can be read as a checklist if we must, and the Reds -- with their contempt for treaties, sober defense, and fair elections -- will not pass muster.
